There are also many vegetables: lettuce, green beans, carrots and broccoli.
I really like potatoes and beans. They are so delicious and healthy. My dad does not like broccoli and he hates carrots. He is not very healthy sometimes.
My mom really likes bread and bread rolls. She also likes coffee.

  6. B. Meal times
In the U.S., we eat breakfast in the early morning.
I drink milk and have bread with peanut butter or cereal. My brother likes eggs.
At noon, we eat lunch. I usually have a sandwich made with sliced, white bread and meat or cheese.
In the evening, we eat dinner. We either have fish, chicken or beef with green beans and potatoes.
What time do you eat your meals?

  6. C. Let's go out to eat
When it is my birthday, we go to a restaurant to celebrate.

In the summer, I like to sit outside. I ask for a table for five. The waiter brings us the menus. Everything looks yummy!

My brother orders chicken and my dad orders fish. Sometimes I have a hamburger with lettuce.

  6. D. Utensils
I use a spoon for my soup, then a fork for my salad then, I cut my meat with a knife. I drink water from a glass and my father drinks coffee from a cup. I clean my hands with a napkin.

My baby sister annoys me at times. I try not to get mad at her.

In a restaurant, she throws everything. I ask the waitress for a clean spoon, a fork, a knife and a napkin. All her food is on the floor. It is very messy.

If Bugsy were here, he would eat all the food off the floor, but instead I have to pick it up.
In the U.S., it is considered polite to keep your napkin in your lap while eating. You will also notice that Americans eat with a fork in the hand and only hold a knife in their hand while cutting. Once they finish cutting, they place the knife down on the plate until they must cut again.

Clean is the opposite of dirty

Restaurants are open many days in the U.S.
Sometimes on holidays and Sundays or Mondays, they are closed.

In the U.S., most restaurants are open continuously from lunch through dinner although some may close briefly in between.
At 5.00 pm , you can eat dinner almost everywhere.

Note: the 24-hour clock is not used in the U.S. except in the military but it is used in many other countries.

We have allergies.

My brother can't eat fish.
I am allergic to milk.
Please, for my baby sister, absolutely no eggs.

I love yogurt but I can't eat it.

When in a restaurant, I must ask:
"How do you prepare...?" Does it have milk in it?"

Does anyone you know have allergies?
Can't and cannot are the same. In conversation, most people say can't.
I love is a strong form of I like. It is used with both people and objects.
