My dog, my
grandparents, my uncle, aunt and cousins
Our dog is small. He is very
cute and friendly.
He likes to eat everything. His name is Bugsy.
Cute is
a popular word in American English to describe a small child,
a dog, a little object or even a good-looking boy or girl.
It is more commonly used for girls.
My grandpa is older. He is so nice.
His house is in
Florida.
My grandma is older, too. She is also nice. She lives in Florida with
my grandpa.
My dad has one sister. She is my aunt. She is married to my uncle. They have two children. They are my cousins.
Florida
is in the south of the U.S.A. and is warm and sunny! In the
U.K. people often retire at an older age to live at the seaside
in the north such as in Southport or Blackpool, in the south in Bournemouth or Eastbourne and also in Devon.
Many British also choose to retire in Spain or France. In Australia, Brisbane is a common place to retire.

Pets
I have a dog. I would like a cat, a bird, a snake, a hamster, a rabbit, a fish.
And you, do you have a pet? Would
you like a pet someday?
I have a dog but I do not have a cat. I would like a cat someday. What about you?

My best friend has a cat. His cat is named Oliver. Oliver is shy. Is your cat shy?

Classmates and teachers
I have eleven classmates. How many do you have?
We have a very nice and funny teacher. His name is Mr. Johnson. We have another good teacher, Mrs. Diaz.
Our principal is very nice, too. Her name is Mrs. Stanford.
Sometimes though,
I get in trouble like when I bring Bugsy to school!
When someone does
something they should not do and it is found out, they may
get into trouble!

My house is average
size, not too big, not too small.
My parents' bedroom is upstairs,
on the second floor. It is big. It
is green.
My bedroom is upstairs also. It is small and pink.
My brother's and my baby sister's bedrooms are, too.
We have one bathroom. It is very busy!
On the second floor.
In the U.S.A., the second floor is the first floor up, You start
to count the floors with the one you enter on. However, many large
buildings or hotels are more like the European system of ground
floor and then first floor.

In the morning, we eat breakfast in the kitchen at a small table.
We like to read the paper at the table and talk about the world.
In the evening, we eat in the dining room. The table is big and there
are many chairs.
Sometimes, we watch a movie in the
living room.
We play board games, too.
My dad often reads to us on the big, brown sofa. My mom sits in a chair and knits.
Should we play inside or outside?
In the winter, we play in the basement.
In the summer, we play in the garage with our friends. We have a blue car in the garage.
Sometimes, we go in the attic. It is spooky!
We play hide and seek. My little brother
is such a chicken!
We like to scare him. Don't tell my mother!
He is such a chicken!
When you call another person a chicken it means a coward,
or someone who scares easily.
There are several
words for living room in English. Some families call
the informal room with the TV set the family
room, the TV room, or
others say den. A living room is usually
more formal than the others but it depends on the region,
family and the size of the house.
